Sharmila volunteers her time as a hospital volunteer, preparing bears and delivering them to her local hospitals in Wales.
Sharmila has kindly shared her journey on how she came to volunteer for us here, we are delighted to be able to shine a spotlight on the wonderful work of our volunteers during Volunteers Week.
Jess started volunteering with us after the loss of her precious son Leo as a Hospital Volunteer.
Jess has been involved with the charity for many years and now focuses on supporting us with sending comfort bears to bereaved families in the post.
Raven heard about Aching Arms after the loss of her precious daughter Vegas Monroe when she was gifted a bear by her midwife.
Raven came to volunteer for us, preparing and delivering comfort bears for her local hospitals and as a postal volunteer.

Valerie and Margaret have been involved with supporting the charity right from the start, supporting Valerie's son Mark, and daughter-in-law Leanne, the charity Founder and CEO.
This Volunteers Week we shine a spotlight on the wonderful work they do to support the charity and thank them for all their incredible hard work in preparing bears, delivering them to hospitals and for raising awareness and fundraising for Aching Arms.

Friday's announcement on Heart FM is about the biggest donation we have ever received. It is thanks to Global's Make Some Noise campaign and means we can fund our Be Together programme for two whole years and enable more families, during these tough economic times, to come along to our events and simply 'be' with others who feel so alone after the loss of their baby.
Aching Arms hosted an awareness event in Belfast City Hall on Friday 14th April thanks to an invitation by Michelle Kelly, Belfast Deputy Lord Mayor. Around 60 people attended and met our Founder, Leanne and our Northern Ireland volunteers Laura, Ellie and Lisa.

We wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who have supported our charity by purchasing items from our online gift shop. At Aching Arms, we understand that going through the grief and loss of our babies is incredibly difficult, we also understand that occasions such as Mother’s Day can bring grief to the surface after many years, and be very difficult during the first year. We know that small gestures of kindness and empathy can make a huge difference in our healing process.

We are delighted to invite families who have received an Aching Arms Comfort Bear, health professionals and local businesses big and small, to our awareness event Bears in Belfast. This will be an opportunity for people to come together, meet our CEO Leanne and our local volunteers in person. There will be an opportunity to remember your baby, discuss bereavement in the workplace and learn more about Aching Arms and how we support the community.

On 28th February 2023, a group of 13 pregnancy and baby charities, including Aching Arms, told the UK Covid-19 Inquiry how all aspects of pregnancy, maternity, neonatal and postnatal care were dramatically disrupted during the pandemic.
